Induction of Staff, Volunteers & Managers
We aim provide a strong, qualified, committed, professional, experienced and caring team of staff who work well together in harmony to provide good quality childcare and education for all children attending Pre-School. The staff, committee and parents/carers will operate as a team. As an organisation we value each team member’s contribution and are committed to providing effective training and development opportunities to facilitate this. All staff will be provided with an induction process. All staff will have a yearly appraisal at which individual training plans will be discussed. Training Opportunities will also be discussed regularly at staff meetings. Staff Inductions A full induction will be carried out with the new employee by either the Supervisor or Manager with additional assistance by existing staff members. The new employee may be allocated a mentor if needed Staff Appraisal and Supervision Performance appraisals/Supervisions are essential for the effective management and evaluation of staff. They help develop individuals and improve organisational performance. Appraisals/Supervisions enable management and monitoring of standards, agreeing expectations and objectives and delegation of responsibilities and tasks. Appraisals/Supervisions will establish individual training needs and enable organisational training needs, analysis and planning. The Manager will appraise all staff and the Chairperson will appraise the Manager. Each staff member will have a yearly appraisal, and regular supervisions. Staff Meetings These will be held weekly at Pre-School. All staff are encouraged to attend. The Manager will set the agenda but staff are free to add to that agenda. The purpose of the meetings is to discuss forthcoming planning, children’s development and other issues relating to the smooth running of the Pre-School. The benefits are open communication and enabling all staff members to be fully involved in the day to day running of the Pre-School. All minutes are typed up and placed in the staff room. Training Pre-School recognise the importance of training as a key factor in implementing an effective service and enabling staff to become reflective practitioners In order to ensure that the best possible care and education be provided for the children in our care, staff are encouraged to regularly attend training courses to update their knowledge.
